WILFRED JAMES FOSTER 1919 - 2006 Wilfred passed away suddenly at home at the age of 86 years. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Ivy Jane Veale, and brother Gordon Arthur Foster. He is survived by son Bruce Foster and daughters, Gail Harper (Bill), Lynne Hooper (Ross) and Barbara Boes (Jack Smithson) as well as sister Gwen Phyall; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Foster, Ilene Hawkins (Ron) and Beryl Veale; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and recent companion Marge Quinn. Wilfred was born in Winnipeg December 13, 1919 and married Ivy in 1942. In his early teens, he was elected President of the Jr. Lodge of Sons of England. He graduated from East Kildonan Collegiate as school president in 1936. He worked for the Royal Bank of Canada from 1937 until his retirement as Manager of Corporate Relations in 1976. His employment was interrupted for five years during the Second World War when he served with the Royal Canadian Core of Engineers. He received an award from the City of Winnipeg for community service. He regularly donated blood both in Canada and the U.S.A. and received the 10 gallon award from the Canadian Red Cross. He served as President of the Elmwood Curling Club and was named an honorary life member of the Manitoba Curling Association in 1976. He also served with the Kiwanis Club in various capacities including Lt. Governor. Wilfred and Ivy spend their retirement winters in Arizona. Over the years, he enjoyed curling, golf, playing piano and especially writing poetry. Cremation will be attended to by Thomson Funeral Chapel followed by a private family service.
