Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIA CORAZON DELENA RAMOS Surrounded by family, Corazon Boots Ramos, beloved wife of Angel Ramos passed away peacefully on Friday, September 1, 2006 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 65. Besides her husband, she is survived by her son Jerome; and daughters, Regina (Silvestre) Urbano, Jennifer (Victor) Nombrado, Carla (Bernard) Carpio; and grandchildren, Sian and Stefan Urbano, Nason and Tynan Nombrado, and Chelsea and Breanna Carpio. She was predeceased by her parents, José and Adoracion Delena; and infant children, Geoffrey, and triplets Athos, Porthos and Aramis. Mom also leaves to mourn her passing a large extended family of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and friends in Canada, the Philippines and the United States, including her best friend and willing accomplice Rosalie Rojas, Paeng (Nellie) Delena and family, Jerry and Erlinda Ramos and family, Elsa and Rudolfo Enriquez and family, Gigi, Jojo, Mark and Liane Lanzar, Nanay Efie Villanueva, Aida and Roger Avancena and Ted and Wyllea Mickliechuk. Mom will forever be remembered as Baby Corazon to the Tejada and Delena clans and Tita Boots to countless others. Following in her mother's footsteps, Mom graduated as a top student from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Santo Thomas in the Philippines in 1963 and placed 8th in the National Pharmacy Board Exams. Operating her own pharmacy, she dispensed medicine, and at the same time hosted a live radio talk show Give Me a Ring where she dispensed common sense advice to callers throughout the Province of Cotabato. Mom was always open to new experiences and enjoyed travelling extensively with Papa, her beloved husband of 42 years. Their fondness for travelling has been passed on to their children and grandchildren, who have all experience air travel before their first birthday. The family arrived in Canada in April 1973. Mom first worked at the Winnipeg Municipal Hospital, but spent the majority of her working life employed at Shoppers Drug Mart as a Pharmaceutical Technician. She chose not to pursue accreditation in Canada so that she could care for the immediate needs and realities of a young, growing family. Mom augmented the family income by operating Cora's Cakes , a small business many came to depend on to commemorate weddings, baptisms, birthdays and various other celebrations. Mom led a full life and enjoyed a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to those who have shown their support at this time of need. Thank you also to all the health care professionals at St. Boniface Hospitals who cared for Mom and came to expect the many visitors bearing home cooked meals she always attracted during her hospital stays. Special thanks to the Dialysis Unit staff, especially Dr. Verrelli and Madge Ma, the 5E Medicine staff and the MICU doctors, nurses and aides. Wake services (Lamay) will be held at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on, September 6 and September 7, beginning at 7:00 p.m., with prayer services at 8:00 p.m. Above all, Mom wanted lots and lots of prayers, and for guests to wear white to celebrate her going home. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 8 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 255 Stafford. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens and reception will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be Silvestre Urbano, Victor Nombrado, Bernard Carpio, Joevic Ramos, Armando Ramos, Jojo Lanzar and CJ Mundy (Alternate). Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
