WILLIAM (BILL) PESCLOVITCH With heavy hearts, the Pesclovitch family sadly announces the passing of a devoted husband, a proud grandfather, a great dad, a friend to many and a true Northender. William (Bill) Pesclovitch died Tuesday, September 5, 2006 surrounded by those he loved and cherished most. He is survived and forever remembered by his wife and lifelong partner for 62 years, Marge (Margaret), his oldest daughter Carol, his two sons Randy (Margaret) and Glenn (Meighan) and his grandchildren Matthew, Meghan, Grady and Kamryn as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill was born in January of 1923 in Winnipeg and lived his entire life raising a family in the North End of the city. After proudly serving his country during the Second World War, both in Canada and overseas, our dad returned home to meet the one true love of his life in 1944. Marge and Bill had a whirlwind romance, were married a few short months later, and remained partners for the rest of his life. As a new husband with intentions of raising a family, he landed his best and last job at Shea's Brewery which ultimately, after 43 dedicated years of service, retired our dad under its more current name of Labatt's. He served as Secretary of his Union Local and made many, many lifelong friends during his 40 plus years on the bottle shop floor. Our dad was always proud of his North End roots and gave back to his community in every way he could. Soon after his return from service, he became active with the Ukrainian Canadian Veterans Legion Branch 141 and served until just recently in many capacities including coach of many of the baseball teams in the 60's and 70's and President of the Executive. He was also one of the original members of the North Winnipeg Charitable Club based out of the Northend Y on McGregor. This organization raised thousands of dollars which were in turn reinvested back into the North End and donated to Seven Oaks General Hospital. If you couldn't find Bill in the city, chances are he was out enjoying his weekend at the family cottage at Lee River. Our dad was one of the original board members and instrumental in founding and organizing the Leeside Recreational Co-op back in the 80's. One of his favorite past times in his later years was sitting on the deck at the cottage with his buddy Paul. They would analyze the ways of the world and offer their own take on things to anyone who happened to wander by them. He was an amazing guy and a man of few words who without even knowing it, taught everyone close to him some important life lessons. Patience, honesty, cherishing what you have instead of complaining about the things you didn't have were a big part of the many things that made our dad the man he was. Our family would especially like to thank the exceptional care and compassion that we all were shown by the doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface General Hospital. You treated our dad with dignity and that was very important to him and to us. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 8, at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home with interment and reception to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Rev. Fr. Isadore Dziadyk officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON1160, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main St. 338-7111
