DENISE EVANS (nee PEPIN) Sadly on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, Mary Florence Denise Evans passed away peacefully at home. Denise is survived by her son Tim Evans; son Greg Evans (Charlotte), grandchildren, Jessica and Nicholas; daughter Lisa Fedak (John), grandchildren, Jordon and Breanne; and daughter Tara Evans and grandchildren, Allan, Raylee, Joelle, Robert, Sierra and Eric. She is also survived by siblings, Rita Seidel (Karl), Irene Pepin, Adele Pepin, June Abraham, Edna Coe, Edward Sabovitch (Shirley); sister-in-law Janice Pepin; and numerous extended family members and friends. Denise was predeceased by her husband Gordon of 19 years; parents, Aime Pepin and Marie-Ange Sabovitch; and siblings, Adelard, Lionel, Albert, Beatrice, Ross, and twins, Dennis and Denise. Denise was born January 1, 1941 in Pine Falls, MB and raised in Fisher Branch, MB. Denise then married Gordon and raised her family in St. Vital. Her fondest memories were as the camp cook at Camp Gilwell north of Gimli, MB in the 1970s. She loved to cook and bake especially at Christmas and was well known for her pineapple slice and gingersnap cookies. She worked as a security guard at Stoney Mountain Penitentiary as well as a pool attendant with the City of Winnipeg until her health began to fail. She will also be fondly remembered for her singing and as an active member with numerous Legions. While life presented challenges in health and well being for Denise, she was strengthened by her love for her numerous grandchildren. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for the excellent care they provided to Denise over the past few years. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 11 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 E. at Navin Road. Interment of cremated remains will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Dialysis Unit c/o of the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 730 Taylor Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3M 2K8.
