Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryETHEL LOUISE SAUNDERS July 24, 1914 - September 6, 2006 On Wednesday, September 6, 2006, Ethel passed away at the Grace Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, Matilda and Harry Saunders and her sister Elizabeth Saunders. Ethel was born and raised in Winnipeg. Upon completing her education (receiving a teacher's certificate) she obtained employment with the City of Winnipeg Social Services Department and remained there until her retirement in 1978. Teaching was always her passion, and from 1978 to 1983 Ethel was a volunteer teaching assistant at the Lions Learning Centre, and from 1983 to June 2000 she was a volunteer teaching assistant at Faraday School. A celebration of Ethel's life will be held on Thursday, September 14 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway with a family gravesite service to follow. The family would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the staff at the Grace Hospital for the care given to Ethel during her stay. We also wish to give a most sincere thank you to the staff at We Care Home Health Services, and at the Lions Manor where Ethel resided. And, a special thank you to Ethel's friends for the giving of their time and companionship. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
