ROBERT (BOB) ALEXANDER WELSH On Sunday, September 10, 2006 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB, Bob Welsh, aged 79 years, beloved husband of Pat Welsh passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his side. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Pat; and four children, daughters, Patti (Steve), Pamela (Roger), sons, Boyd (Kelly), Bobby (Kellea) and Bob's daughter Beverly (Mark); 12 grandchildren, Tammy, Mandy, Danyel, Michael, Carlee, Chelsey, Kerri, Sean, Riley, Brody, Kevin, Colin. Also surviving are his sisters, Flo and Dot; mother-in-law Alice Matheson; sister-in-law Thelma (Stan), Mildred, Florence; brother-in-law Lionel (Yvette), Leroy (Peggy) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents, John and Agnes; sisters, Beatrice and Rita; by brothers, Victor, Ray, Norman and Roy; father-in-law Frank Matheson. Bob was born in Port Arthur on November 5, 1926. He joined the Army at the age of 16 and was in only for s short time before the Second World War ended. He spent most of his younger days in Geraldton and Thunder Bay before moving to Winnipeg in 1951. Most of his working years were in the Automotive Industry. Bob and his family moved to Oakbank in 1970. Bob was an avid sports fan and very involved in the community club, he loved playing cards and completing the Saturday crossword puzzle. He enjoyed dancing with Mom, bowling but most of all he loved his family. The family would like to thank Dr. John Foerster and the staff of the St. Boniface Hospital for the excellent care Bob received and the kindness shown to our family. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, September 14 at 3:00 p.m. from the Oakbank United Church with Rev. Dawn Ballantine-Dickson officiating. If friends so desire memorial donations in his memory may be made to St. Boniface Cancer Care, Winnipeg, MB. RUSSELL'S of Beausejour, Manitoba are in care of arrangements.
