SIDNEY OSCAR HENNEY July 13, 1915 - September 9, 2006 After a lengthy struggle with heart trouble Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Seven Oaks Hospital with family by his side, Sid went peacefully to be with the Lord. He leaves to mourn his wife of 50 years Frieda; son Dennis; daughter Roseann (Farmer); three grandchildren, Patrick, Charlie, Tricia and a brother Walter and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Katherine, father Louis, sisters Ruby, Elsie, brothers Albert, Stanley, Louis, Alf and his son-in-law Dan Teplyski. Sid was born in 1915 in the house he still resided in. He attended King Edward School. Due to his father's failing health he went to work at the age of 12 as an upholsterer. After his fathers death, he looked after his mom and the house while the younger brothers still went to school. In later years he took grades 10 through 12 and then went on to University. He graduated and went on to study medicine. He didn't believe in a lot of drugs, so he turned to natural ways of healing, massage therapy and reflexology. He devoted his life to healing and helping others. He was involved a lot with his church. He was camp director, swim instructor, was also noted for the facials he gave the camp directors. Later he headed up Luther League and was a Sunday School Superintendent. He worked a lot with the youth of the church. Even though his first love was the medical field he remained an upholsterer until he retired at the age of 68. No rest for Sid who then became a grandparent. He spent hours with the children taking them to the park and walking them to and from school. When he became sick, he still was on the go, trying to keep the yard up. He was very stubborn and insisted that he could do it himself even though the neighbor tried to help. God gave Sid the strength to celebrate his 50th anniversary with Frieda among a lot of their family and friends. The family would like to extend their thanks to the nursing staff for the excellent care that he received at Seven Oaks Hospital. The funeral service is Saturday, September 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 265 Flora Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
