DONALD DOUGLAS MURDOCH PFEFFER Don left us peacefully on September 14, 2006 at the Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 88. He leaves to mourn his passing his son Art (Leona), granddaughter Amy and great-granddaughter Lauren; his daughter Cathy (Ron), granddaughter Cindy (Jimmy) and great-grandchildren Mya, Emily and Ty; and his daughter Rita (Ray). Don is also survived by his sister-in-law Rita Pfeffer and her family. His wife Betty predeceased him. Don served as a Pilot in the RCAF during the Second World War. On returning to Canada he began a long career in the accounting field. Don worked for the Canadian Bank of Commerce, the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and retired from the Department of National Defence. In his retirement years, Don enjoyed helping other people and greatly valued his independence. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Deer Lodge Centre where Don resided for the last six years, in particular Tower 7 and 3 East. He enjoyed the staff, fellow residents and volunteers who made it so much a home for him. He spent much of his time assisting others and was an active participant in many of the activities. He especially enjoyed participating in worship services and working on various committees. It was comforting to have so many people visit Don over the last week to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rehabilitation Centre for Children Foundation, 633 Wellington Crescent, Winnipeg, MB R3M 0A8, which is a charity that Don actively supported, or to a charity of one's choice. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 18 in the Worship Centre, 2nd floor of the Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Avenue. A private interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
