HAZEL RHODA LEATHERDALE (nee BALL) Peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2006, Hazel Rhoda Leatherdale, age 98 years, passed away at the Grace Hospital. Hazel was born in Orilla, ON and came to Winnipeg at the age of three. She married Donald Leatherdale on January 27, 1942 and went to live in Gladmar, Saskatchewan where Don farmed and worked in the coal mine. Don passed away in 1959 and Hazel returned to Winnipeg in 1966. She worked at the Central Park Lodge for three years and then on to YWCA for the next 10 years. Hazel spent a lot of her life caring for others - looking after family. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Don; infant sisters, Lillian, Ida and Hilda; her sister Reta; brothers, Herb, Harold and Art; sisters-in-law, Winnie, Olive and Undine; brother-in-law Joseph; parents, Herbert and Ida May; niece Helen. She leaves to mourn many friends and family. Hazel spent many years at her apartment in St. Vital until the age of 95 when a fall required more care. She moved into Beacon Hill Lodge in 2003 where she became well known and loved by many of the staff and residents. The family would like to thank the staff at Beacon Hill for caring for her the past three years and special thanks to all those at the Grace Hospital for making her so comfortable this past week. Still an amazing woman at 98 plus. We will miss you, Hazel.
