Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER JANSEN September 12, 1913 September 16, 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Walter Jansen early September 16, 2006 at the age of 93 years. Walter leaves to mourn Linda (Schulz), his loving wife of 64 years; and his sons, Arno (Betty), Walfried (Ruth), and Roalt (Netty). He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Aldin, Kurt, Arlene, Adrienne, Karl, Rick and Kevin. Walter was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Anna (nee Voth); his brothers, Peter and Willie; and sisters, Suta and Betty. Walter was born in Gnadenfeld, Ukraine. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering but was never able to practice his profession as the Second World War forced him to flee to Volendam, Paraguay in 1946. In 1957, at the age of 45, he uprooted his family yet again to move to Canada. He gave up his job as hospital administrator to work as a labourer and salesman to give his children a better future. He was immensely proud of his sons' achievements as well as that of all his grandchildren and therefore never regretted his sacrifices. Walter was respected for his honesty and integrity. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 22 at 11:00 am at the North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch Street in Winnipeg with a reception and interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Walter's name may be made to the Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home, 1045 Concordia Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2K 3S7. FRIENDS FUNERAL SERVICE 339-5555
