Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOUISE VIVIAN BAKER (nee PHILLIPPS, SWAN, MACDONALD) January 30, 1922 - September 7, 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce Louise's passing on September 7 at Florida Hospital, Orlando FL. She is succeeded by her children Hugh Swan (Sandye), Vivian MacDonald, Eleanor Randall (Jim); grandchildren Jillian, Lauren, Tyler (Swan), Matthew (Beckley), Jordan, Benjamin, Starlite, Adam and Beaux (Randall); sister, Muffett (Sheila Head); and cousins Jean Gemmill and Elizabeth Yarnell. Louise was raised in Winnipeg, living most of her formative years on Wellington Crescent. She attended Compton School for Girls in Montreal and received her Masters of Social Work in 1960 from the University of Manitoba, while raising 3 children. Louise then worked for some time at Family Services in Winnipeg. Mum had a full and colorful life. She lived in both Toronto and Halifax for a period of time. Part of the 1970s she lived on a sailboat in the Tortola, BVI, and was a Mental Health Officer for the entire British Virgin Islands. She once bravely sailed up to Florida during a major storm. No matter where she lived, though, she always spent her summers at Falcon Lake, or the Lake of the Woods. She finally settled in Orlando, FL. in the 1980's where she gardened, learned Mahjongg and played her beloved bridge. As a member of the Junior League, she met many of her lifelong friends from Winnipeg, Halifax and Orlando. Her memory will be cherished and remembered by her family and her friends throughout the world. Services will be private, with a celebration of Louise's life to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society.
