WALTER KUBAS (SR.) 1917 2006 Peacefully, with his son Wally (Jr.) and Wendy by his side, Walter Kubas (Sr.) passed away at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg on September 19, 2006 at the age of 89. Walter is survived by his granddaughter Katrina and Khrystyn; stepdaughter Cecelia (Ron, Nicole and Lee Mandock); sister Elizabeth; niece Kay (George Keniak) of Ontario. He was predeceased by his mother Eva and father William; brother Frank and sister Kay, all of Winnipeg. As a young man, Walter was a member of the Military Naval Services then became employed with CPR where he retired at the age of 64. Walter had many passions in life, which included bowling, hockey and baseball. In 2005 he was inducted into the Manitoba Softball Hall of Fame when he played for the Globelite Batteries from 1944-1947 championship team and also with the Northern Hotel/Legion 141 Champions from 1950-1954. Walter's ultimate passion in life was golf. For 50 years, Walter was a dedicated member of the St. Boniface Golf Club resulting in being a Manitoba Senior Champion six times. You could always see Walter driving his car daily with golf cart in tow, headed for the golf course to take money from his friends. The family would like to thank Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg for their care and kindness. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walter's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Road, Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
