Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHILANE MUSSALLEM Peacefully, on Tuesday, September 26, 2006, surrounded by family, Hilane Mussallem passed away at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 79. Hilane was born in Karoun, Lebanon, January 10, 1927, a small village in the Bekaa Valley, and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1954 with her late husband Frank Mussallem. Hilane was an excellent cook and quickly gained employment at the local school of Balmoral Hall and later spent the majority of her adult working years with the University of Women's Club on West Gate. She made many friends throughout the years and will be remembered for her hospitality and kindness. She is survived by two brothers, Michael and Makhaoul of Lebanon, and many loving nephews, nieces and other relatives from around the world; they include family members from the Mussallem's, Hajjar's, Forzley's, Hesselbart's, Hutter's, Chamaa's and the Naim's. Hilane was a friend, sister, aunt and grandmother to all; she will always be fondly known as Sitou . Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 29 at Thomson Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. with interment taking place at Elmwood Cemetery. Thank you to the staff at Victoria General Hospital for their care and compassion during her stay there.
