WILLIAM GORDON MCLEOD With deepest sorrow we announce the tragic passing of Gordon McLeod. Born in Winnipeg December 1, 1982 and later moved to Canmore, AB. He attended W.M.E.S., Westgate, and U of W. At age seven, Gordon started learning to play the bagpipes and piping became his passion. He won many solo competitions and Manitoba Champion Supreme in 2000. Early in his life he set a goal of becoming a pilot and never wavered from it. He attended Air Cadets Squadron 177, and Mount Royal College's aviation program, graduating in 2003. In February 2004, he went to the Northwest Territories to fly with North Wright Airlines. It was on a flight with North Wright that Gordon's plane crashed on August 16. He will be sadly missed by his mother Sandra McLeod; family and many friends. Gordon's wonderful smile, his kindness and good nature will live on. His passion and dedication in life were an example for all. His passing is truly a loss to humanity. Memorial service will be at Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, October 14 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to: Gordon McLeod Memorial Piping Scholarship. The Alberta Society of Pipers and Drummers, 927 Parkwood Dr. SE, Calgary, AB T2J 3W9.
