Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBESSIE VIOLA SILKEY (nee Jefferson) Peacefully, on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at the Betel Home in Selkirk, Bessie Silkey, aged 92 years, of Selkirk, wife of the late Samuel Silkey. Bessie was born in Gunton, MB on July 15, 1914 and moved to Selkirk in 1923. She married Samuel Silkey in May of 1940. Sam was killed in Hong Kong in 1941 during the Second World War. Besides her husband Bessie was predeceased by her parents, William and Georgina; brothers and sisters, Lorne, Bruce, Ted, Ivy and Leslie; and special sister-in-law Christine. She is survived by her sister Doreen, sister-in-law Pearl; 10 nieces and nephews, Bev, Doug, Bruce, Ivy, Carol, Diane, Audrey, Bill, Leslie and Laurie; as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Knox Presbyterian Church in Selkirk with Rev. Matthew Brough officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bessie's memory can be made to the Selkirk Palliative Care Unit, Box 5000, Easton Drive, Selkirk, MB R1A 2M2. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
