Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT CAMERON (BOB) BRUCE Passed away comfortably in his sleep on Thursday, October 5, 2006 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Winnipeg, MB on March 28, 1919, he was a son of the late Rose and John Bruce. He will be sadly missed by Dorothy, his loving wife of 63 years and his sons, Douglas, Lower Sackville and Robert Jr., Kelowna, BC. He is also survived by his sister, Cathy, Kelowna, BC and grandsons, David and Graham. He was predeceased by his brothers, Jack (twin) and Douglas. Bob completed his education in Winnipeg and then served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1939 to 1945. Following his war service he returned to Winnipeg and began a 30 year career with the Electricity and Gas Inspection Division of the Government of Canada. He retired as District Manager in Halifax. He was a longtime member of the Masonic Order and Past Master of the Friendship Lodge in Fort Garry, MB. In retirement for nearly two decades, he enjoyed spending his winters in Fort Myers, FL. He also enjoyed travel and made several visits to Europe. The family wishes to thank the health professionals and staff from the 9th Lane, Abbie J. Lane Memorial Building, QEII and staff of the Berekley Retirement Residence, Bedford, for their kind help and support. Cremation has taken place under the direction of T.K. Barnard Funeral Home, Bedford. At the request of the deceased, there will be no funeral service. If desired, donations may be made to the SPCA or a charity of your choice.
