ALVINA HOLME (nee FREUND) 1914 - 2006 On October 10, 2006, at the age of 92, our mom passed away peacefully at the Grunthal Menno Home with her family at her bedside. She is survived by her children, Dorothy, Phyllis, Norman (June), Gladys (Lawrence) Whetstone, Jeff (Rose), 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, her siblings, Adele, Roy (Adlaide) and Eddie and sisters-in-law, Rose Freund and Helen Freund. Mom was predeceased by her husband Alexander in 1981, parents, Adolph and Julianna Freund, her brothers, Gottlieb, Gustava, Adolph, William, Leonard and Manuel died as an infant, sisters, Julianna, Milena and Linda, sons-in law, Ernest Steffan, Orest Chornoboy, Paul Wyraha and her great-grandchild Bailey Chornoboy. Mom was a kind and caring person. She was always there if you needed help. Always there for us if we needed a babysitter. We'll miss her dearly, but know she is now in a better place. A special thanks to the Menno Home staff for the wonderful care they gave our mother. Viewing will be held Friday, October 13, at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 14, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 465 Henry Street, Steinbach, MB, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
