Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERNARD (BEN) ARNOLD KRANING Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at his residence in Plumas, Manitoba, Ben Kraning age 92 years, formerly of Amaranth, Manitoba. Ben was born in Beausejour, Manitoba in approximately 1914. He moved with his family to west of Amaranth around 1920 to be closer to their extended family. They homesteaded there for a few years before moving to Winnipeg. Around 1932 they moved back to Amaranth and farmed in the marsh area. In 1949 they sold their farm and moved to Headingley, Manitoba where he married Marjorie Lelliott of Winnipeg. They farmed there with his brother and parents for a couple of years and from there they moved back to Winnipeg where he worked for his cousins at Litz Construction and a few years for Walsh Graham Motors. In 1959 he, Marjorie and their 4 children moved back to Amaranth where he took up residence where they were blessed with 2 more daughters. He farmed there until 1975, when they sold out and moved back to Winnipeg. He worked for Alpine Construction until he retired in 1979. He and Marjorie and their 2 youngest daughters moved to Plumas, where he resided until his passing. Dad's first love was for his family. He was looking forward to the upcoming birth of another grandchild as well as another great-grandchild. His second love was his love of nature, including his flowers and garden, birds, horses and other animals. He was at his happiest when he was sitting in his yard with a drink in hand, admiring his many birdhouses, his prize apple tree, and his many other trees. Predeceased by his wife Marge in 2001, his parents Chris and Alvina Kraning, all of his siblings, and his great-granddaughter Katie Lee Bater. Left to mourn his passing are his children Linda Morrison and her husband Ken of Yellowknife and their children Derrick and Kevin Weitzel, and Aaron, Amanda, and Briana Morrison; Greg Kraning and his wife Donna of Winnipeg and their children Ryan, Kelly Ann, and Christopher; Robert Kraning of Amaranth; Lori Warren and her husband Ken of Yellowknife and their children Jamie Bater, Jenn Justus (Sean), Steven Warren, and Elizabeth Warren; Donna Meister and her husband Steve of Yellowknife and their children Dakota and Tiffani Hamilton, and Samantha Meister; Stacey Scarf and her husband Brett of Yellowknife and their children Adam and Austin Scarf, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in the Amaranth Gospel Mission Church, Amaranth, Manitoba with Rev. Don Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven Of Rest Cemetery, Amaranth. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3A 1P6.
