The funeral was on December 28, 2006. Stefan was predeceased by his parents Frank and Teresa, his brothers Martin and Ignatz, his sisters Ann and Catherine. He was born and educated in Gorna Bistrica, Slovenia, Yugoslavia. At the age of 19, wishing to avoid his war torn country, he was on his way to Canada, thanks to the kind sponsorship of the Benedictine Sisters of Arborg, Manitoba. There he laboured as a farm hand. In 1961 Stefan moved to West St. Paul (Middlechurch) where he continued to work for the Sisters whom he greatly appreciated. In 1971 Stefan married Carolina (Chrupalo) Meseric. During the same year he began to work at B.M.A.C. (Con-Force). He did maintenance work and also looked after the boilers. Stefan was a Stationary Power Engineer. In 2000 due to failing health, he retired. Stefan's favourite pastime was gardening, fishing, watching wrestling with Stefanie, listening to Slovenian music, and watching western movies as well as The Price is Right. Stefan was a quiet unassuming man who had a fine sense of humour. He did his utmost for his family in Canada as well as his relatives in Europe. He was a good provider who loved his wife, daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters. Stefan will be missed. To live in the hearts of others is to never die.
