THELMA THORBERGA GUDNY FINNBOGASON (nee THORVARDSON) Peacefully on December 30, 2006 at Golden West Centennial Lodge, Winnipeg, at the age of 91. Thelma was born at The Narrows, MB on January 18, 1915. She was predeceased by her husband Paul in 1981; her parents, Thorbergur, in 1915 and Thordis in 1971. Thelma is survived by her son Ken (Gloria) of Winnipeg and daughter Patti (Doug) Vickers of Kelowna, BC; grandchildren, Shari of Winnipeg, Thor (Christine) of Winnipeg, Paul and CJ of Kelowna, and two very dear great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Logan of Winnipeg. Family was all important to Thelma and she remained close to her Kernested cousins. As an only child, Thelma became an integral part of her husband's family - Tom and (Emily, deceased), Alan and Marguerite, (Bill, deceased) and Nona, Chris and Elaine and many nieces and nephews. Thelma's indomitable spirit and love of life, family and friends will be a legacy to all those who remember her, both in Manitoba and British Columbia. She easily made friends in the different cities she and Paul called home and kept in touch with friends and fellow I.O.D.E. members. She had a profound love of anything Icelandic and treasured her trips to Iceland. Thelma was a founding member of the Falkinn Icelandic Club of Brandon. Music was always a passion and she spent many years singing in church and senior choirs in Brandon and Winnipeg. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave. (entrance on Aubrey Street), Pastor Ingthor Isfeld officiating; preceded by interment at 11:00 a.m. at Brookside Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those wishing to may make a donation in Thelma's name may do so to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
