MICHAEL (MYCHAJLO) FERENC It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Michael (Mychajlo) Ferenc on January 8, 2007 at the age of 82 years at Seven Oaks Hospital. Michael leaves to cherish his memory, beloved wife Maria of 46 years; his children Anna and Joseph; son-in-law Orest Bozyk; as well as family in Toronto and Poland. He was predeceased by his parents Andrij and Olena and his brother Stefan. Michael was born August 2, 1924 in Wesowa, Ukraine. He immigrated to Canada on December 10, 1949, arriving in Halifax on the ship Franconia. Shortly thereafter, he settled in Winnipeg and married Maria in 1960. For 36 years he worked as a trackman at Canadian Pacific Railway before retiring in 1987. Michael was a longtime member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. He will be remembered fondly for his dedication to family, love of singing and lively political discussions, and unfailing ability to find prized mushrooms in wooded groves. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, (today), January 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. with Rev. Isidore Dziadyk, OSBM and Rev. Damien Dutka, OSBM officiating.
