VERLIE ANN REID With deep sorrow and sadness we announce the passing of Verlie Ann Reid, beloved wife and mother, on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at the age of 70 years. Predeceased by her parents William and Constance Hutchison and brother Richard Hutchison, she is survived by her loving husband of 53 years William (Bill) Reid; daughters, Sandra Janssen, Gloria and son-in-law Curtis Wetyk; son Darren Reid and daughter-in-law Barbara; sister Nonie Hutchison; grandsons Paul Janssen, Sam Wetyk and Jagger Reid; granddaughters Jennifer Iverson (Shaun), Lisa Janssen, Megan Janssen, Lindsay Wetyk, Sarah Wetyk, Nicole Reid and Haley Reid. Her cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends will also remember her. Verlie was born on March 17, 1936 in Wallace Municipality near Elkhorn Manitoba. She married Bill on June 18, 1953 at the St. Paul's United Church in Virden Manitoba before moving to Winnipeg to start their life together and raise a family. Family was very important to Verlie and she enjoyed surrounding herself in their company. The sound of her voice and her beautiful smile made an ordinary day special. She made the celebration of special occasions even more memorable. She instilled upon our family a strong sense of tradition and togetherness. Verlie loved to travel. She and Bill were fortunate to begin traveling early in their retirement years and enjoyed many winter holidays to Hawaii, Mexico, as well as cruises to other exotic places. For 10 years they enjoyed extended winter holidays at their home in the south, located in Trails End Park, Weslaco Texas. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Sharon Mould and Lee-Anna at the Assiniboine Clinic. They also thank the medical staff on the GH5 Ward of the Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion towards Verlie over the past few months. In memory of Verlie, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Scleroderma Society of Canada. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 15, 2007 at 12:30 p.m.at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. We will always hold you close within our hearts, And there you will remain, To walk with us throughout our lives, Until we meet again.
