MIN FROMKIN It is with profound sadness that the family of Min Fromkin announces her passing on January 18, 2007 at Victoria General Hospital. She is survived by her children, Maxine and Jay of Winnipeg, Harriett Rimer (Alan) of Montreal and grandchildren, Kimberly Rimer (New York) and Evan Rimer (Dana) of Danvers, MA. Min was predeceased by her husband Joe in 1988 and her sister Betty Singer in 2006. Min was a devoted mother and grandmother and travelled together with Joe many times to visit her grandchildren Evan and Kimberly in Montreal. When Jay was born in 1955 as a special needs child, Min was devoted to our brother and worked tirelessly and fiercely to establish a community residence where Jay could live with his peers in a nurturing environment. Through her efforts she was one of the founding members of Shalom Residences which was established in 1981 and where Jay now resides. Burial took place on January 21 at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery in a graveside service officiated by Bill Weissmann. Pallbearers were Alan Rimer, Evan Rimer, Lewis Tepper, Itz Omsen, Norman Oman and Harvey Oman. Special thanks to the nursing staff and doctors at Victoria Hospital, as well as her special neighbours Marilyn, Viola and the Ristocks and the great staff at 55 Nassau. The family would appreciate donations in her memory to be made to Shalom Residences, 1010 Sinclair St., telephone (204) 582-7064.
