Born in Rainy River, Ontario on May 5, 1915, Elsie moved to Transcona with her family while she was still an infant. She attended Transcona Central School, and then helped her parents run Maydonik's grocery store in east end Transcona. Elsie married Antoni Lopuck in 1935 and had one son, Raymond in 1937. Her husband died in 1943 while serving on HMCS St. Croix during the battle of the Atlantic. Shortly after that she began working for the Hudson Bay Company and remained in their employ until her retirement in 1980. Moving to East Kildonan in 1948, Elsie then married Frank Lepinski in 1953; she enjoyed a close relationship with Tony Blonski until his passing in 1997. During the last few years her health deteriorated and she was fortunate enough to have some close friends who assisted her in many ways, especially Peggy and Rick. She entered the Misericordia Hospital and Care Centre in 2002. In compliance with Elsie's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service held. Flowers gratefully declined.
