Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUDY FREDERICK FAST My dearly beloved husband and father of our children, Rudy Fast, passed away peacefully to enter his heavenly abode on February 25, 2007 (our 46th wedding anniversary) at his home, in the presence of his family. Rudy was born in Winnipeg on July 20, 1932. The loss of his parents during his childhood had a profound effect upon him during his youth. One of his first jobs was working for Carter Motors. It was during this time that his interest in cars and also sports became a passionate hobby in his life. In 1960 Rudy graduated from Brandon Teacher's College and later from the University of Manitoba with a B.A. and B.Ed. degree respectively. Rudy loved his students and they loved him. He was both a mentor and a teacher to them. Many educational school outings were made during his teaching years. The last school he taught at was Sargent Park Jr. High. When the High School Driver's Ed. program came to Winnipeg, he joined with enthusiasm. After 30 years of teaching he retired from this profession with much inner satisfaction and continued his driving instruction in the R. Fast School of Driving. To serve society via the tool of teaching was Rudy's aim. In 1961, Rudy Fast married Adelheid Martens. He was warmly received into the William Martens family. His relationship with his father-in-law was especially close. In 1964 he was baptized on the confession of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and joined the fellowship of the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church. He served this congregation in various capacities. What he cherished most were the years we served together in the diakonate of the church. Rudy was a faithful husband, a devoted and loving father and grandfather and an ardent teacher. His all too soon passing will be sadly missed by his entire family. Aufwiedersehen! He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Adelheid; his son Rudie F. Fast; his three daughters and their spouses, Carla Janzen (Rhèal Landry) and children, Krista, Ernest Jr., Paul and their father; Marlene Penner (Charles) and children, Katrina, Britta and Gabriella; Verena Betzing (Uwe) and children, Nicholas, Lukas, Maya and Tia. He also leaves to mourn four older brothers and one sister. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Road, Winnipeg with interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Viewing at the church prior to the service. If friends so desire, donations can be made to Family Life Network, 225 Riverton Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2L 0N1. Many thanks to Dr. Crawford and the Palliative Care staff. Rudy based his spiritual journey on Romans 8: 16 The spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God .
