Elden Louis Fields After a lengthy illness, Elden Fields died peacefully at the Victoria Hospital on Saturday, February 24, 2007, with his family at his side. Elden leaves to mourn his wife of 64 years, Olive; his son Terry; his daughter Allyson (Serg) Matczuk; grandsons, Marcus (Tracy and her son Alex), Matthew, Michael and Paul; his brothers, Roy and Lawrence; sisters, Enid and Nyela; and many nieces and nephews. Elden was born in Stalwart, SK, on March 25, 1917. He moved to Winnipeg and spent the war years serving in the RCAF. At the end of the war he built his own service station on the corner of Simcoe and Notre Dame, which still stands today. In 1963 he sold his business and went to work for Yetman’s Ltd until retirement. Elden was a happy, hardworking, home loving person who was always at his best when there was a project to be done or something to be repaired. He spent many happy years at his cottage at Matlock where he enjoyed working in the garden, renovating and walking his dog. Dear Father, now thy work is over. The willing hands will work no more. A loving father, kind and strong. How we will miss you but left us to Remember none on earth can take your place. Silently the angels took you Into the mansion above. There shall you rest safe in the arms of God’s love. The family wishes to thank Dr. Craig Hildahl for his many years of care, Dr. Kurt Penner for the final days, Reverend Lynn Granke, and the nurses of 5 South for their kindness. A private family service has been held and cremation has taken place. Interment of the remains will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Parkinson Society Canada. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
