NICHOLAS GURAL Peacefully, on March 9, 2007, Nicholas Gural passed away, with his family by his side, at Oakview Place, at the age of 80 years. Nick is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gladys; his daughters, Cindy (Rick) Grabowecky and Denise (Don) Chipilski; his granddaughters, Lori (Lyle) Horodecki, Lisa (Gordon) Nickel, Elizabeth and Stephanie Chipilski; his great-grandchildren, Max, Stella and Nadia. He is also survived by his sister Nell (Marven) O'Neil; sisters- in-law, Olga Harrisko and Elizabeth Veert and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, father and brother Walter. Dad was born in 1926 in Winnipeg and grew up in Weston. He started working at an early age at CPR, Burns, and finally Dominion Bridge. He met and married Mom in 1951. They built their own home, living there for 54 years. Their door was always open to family and friends. Dad's happiest times were sitting around the kitchen table with visitors. Dad's hobbies throughout the years included fishing, wine making, and most importantly, gardening. Dad's tomatoes were legendary and neighbours came every spring to pick up their plants from the green house. Each fall his tomatoes were bigger and better. In his final year, we all received instructions on exactly how to water and care for them properly. Dad was proud of his daughters and granddaughters, but was especially thrilled to have three great-grandchildren. Visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren always brought a big smile to his face. Even in his final days, Dad's first concern was for his family. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Oakview Place for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Dad during his stay there. Thank you to Dr. Hechtenthal for his care over the years. To family and friends, thank you for your visits. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 13 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A private interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Nick's memory to Winnipeg Harvest, Salvation Army or St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
