RUBY SMITH It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our much loved mother and grandmother, Ruby Smith on March 15, 2007 at Park Manor Personal Care Home at the age of 83 years. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughter Pearl, grandson Robert and his wife Diane, brother Roy (Stella), as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bob in 1955, parents, Wilda and Frank Sherbo, sisters, Edith and Pearl and special friend of 64 years, Margaret May. Ruby was born and raised in Transcona. She met Robert (Bob) Smith, the love of her life and was married on July 13, 1941. She worked for many years in her mother's restaurant the Nite Lite Bar until its closing in 1975. She went on to work at Eaton's Grill Room and also worked at the St. Boniface Hospital Cafeteria until her retirement in 1988. Mom was the most wonderful, kind, gentle, loving, tolerant mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was always willing to do her utmost to help to help family and friends in any way she was able to. But, most of all she had a great sense of pride for her grandson Robert. She also enjoyed travelling, playing cards, needlework, the sewing club and the many coffee chats with her friends on her outings. All who knew her, will remember Ruby's smile and her family will remember so many wonderful cherished memories. Cremation has taken place and a funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 505 Brewster St., Transcona. The family extends a special thank you to the wonderful, caring and compassionate staff at Park Manor PCH who provided such excellent care for Mom. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Ruby to the Diabetic Association or CancerCare Manitoba. Thank you Mom, for your unconditional love, devotion and understanding. We will miss you so much. WE LOVE YOU MOM AND GRANDMA The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J COUTU CO.
