ANNE (ANNI) HACKER (nee ADAM) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved Mother (in-law), Oma, Companion and Sister. Anne was predeceased by her parents, Margarethe and Heinrich Adam; brothers Robert and Helmut; sisters Heidi and Maria; granddaughter Crystal Dheilly and her beloved husband Heinrich (Heinz) who passed away in 1997. She leaves to mourn her passing (and mourn her we will) her daughters Andrea (Frank) Verghetti and Claudia (Roger) Dheilly; her grandchildren, Rebecca, Keegan, Christina, Jennifer, Jessica, Christopher and Renee as well as companion and best friend Mato Sikora. Anne was born in Stockheim, Germany in 1933. She grew up a strong little girl and as fate would have it she met and married the man of her dreams, Heinz. Together they immigrated to Canada to seek a better way of life. Heinz became a bricklayer and Anne elected to initially raise and look after their two daughters, Andrea and Claudia. Later Anne worked as a supervisor at Manitoba Health and Woolco (Red Grill). Together, their dream was to provide their children with many of the things they did not have and through hard work and determination they succeeded in that dream. The girls were sent on many trips to Germany and had many memory-filled camping trips. The family spent many joyful hours at the family cottage at Bird River. Anne was always so proud of the fact that she was present in the delivery room when Rebecca was born and that Rebecca's first sight was that of her loving Oma. Sadly, Christmas 2006 was Anne's last Christmas with her family. She was diagnosed with Leukemia on Boxing Day and given little hope of recovery. Bravely and with her usual determination she met her challenge head-on. She fought and never complained. As she indicated one day from her hospital bed, she stated that 10 years without her husband was more than enough and that it was time she joined him. Mom, we will miss your wisdom, your hearty laughter, your cooking, your Marble Cake and Christmas Cookies and all the things that you did with love and passion. You gave us memories, strength, values and taught us the importance of family. We were so fortunate to have you. We know you are in a better place but we will miss you dearly. We will shed many tears for you knowing that those tears will help to wash away the pain we feel today and for many tomorrows. If we never had you, we would not feel such loss today. Thank you Mom, for all you have done for us, taught us, and the memories you have left us. The strength of your two girls is because of you and a part of you, forever. Joined with your true love Heinz, you have gone to God's arms. It is never goodbye, Mom, but till we meet again. Love you Mom. Special thank you to Mato, a true friend and companion to Anne and through his friendship became part of our family. Thank you, Mato. The family wishes to express many thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at CancerCare Manitoba, Health Science Centre GD6 Unit, Home Care Nurses and St. Boniface Palliative Care. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. with interment in St. Vital Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Lawn Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, the family requests to consider a donation to CancerCare Manitoba, ON 1160 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB. R3E 0V9.
