CHRISTINE MICHELLE FROESE 1982-2007 Christine Froese died suddenly in a single vehicle accident on Hwy #44 on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at the age of 24. She was the beloved wife of Leonard Penner; beloved daughter of Hans and Barb Froese, and beloved sister to Daniel Froese and Becky Froese. Christine was born in Winnipeg May 29, 1982 as the first born. Three of her early years were spent in Jamaica. She excelled in her elementary and high school education in the German bilingual program. She had a love for languages and she studied 7. She graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a BA (winning the Gold medal in German studies) and a BEd. On May 15 , 2004 Christine married Leonard Penner. They experienced almost 3 years of marriage in their busy life together. Christine entered the teaching profession, first as a substitute teacher at various schools in the River East School Division and then started a term in January at the elementary school in Beausejour. She was returning from parent teacher meetings at the time of the accident. She made the decision to become a follower of Jesus early on and at the age of 17 chose baptism and church membership. Her faith was a natural and real facet of her life. Christine had a love for books and travel, like her Vati, she had a love for shopping like her Mutti. We that are left behind, mourn her youthful enthusiasm, her love of learning, her yearning to travel her good relationships with family and many friends, her faith, her love of teaching, her students, and her love of books. She died way too soon, but we live in hope of eternal life. Funeral service will be at North Kildonan MB Church, 1315 Gateway Road on Friday , April 13, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. FRIENDS FUNERAL SERVICE in care of arrangements. Phone 339- 555

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I have thought about Christine on and off for many years since her passing. We were in the same class all through our years at Princess Margaret. I remember that we had a special bond since our birthdays were right next to each other (mine is May 30). Now as I read her obituary, I see that her wedding anniversary is also a day or two from mine. I also attended the university of Winnipeg and graduated with my B Ed. We took the city bus home together on several occasions and caught up on life. I remember her speaking so highly of her fiancĂ©. She was very excited to get married to this special guy. She seemed very happy, free and relaxed. I enjoyed talking with her. She came to mind again recently when some teachers and I were discussing reading incentive programs and I recalled our grade 5 or 6 "book worms"---where we would get a new section of worm every 100 pages we read and had our worms hanging throughout the classroom. Christine's worm was so long that it wrapped around the classroom twice! Much longer than anyone by far. (: And since that I haven't been able to get Christine out of my mind. I wonder about her late husband, Leonard, and hope he is happy now. I wonder about her parents, and pray that they have found some peace. May God hold you tightly, and may God's face shine on you. - Posted by: Andrea Enns Regier (Elementary school friend) on: Jan 22, 2015

  • I had the chance to be a judge with Christine at the Manitoba German Language Contest last year. She was an extremely bright and interesting person. I kept in touch with her this year, and was excited to work with her as a partner again, but she had to cancel. I was really sad about this. I appreciated her great sense of humour, her ability to encourage her students making them feel important, and her positivity very much. I am sorry for your loss, Leonard, of your wonderful wife, and to the family. My thoughts are with you. Sincerely, Michelle Kolbe - Posted by: Michelle Kolbe (Co-Worker) on: Apr 10, 2007
