JOAO DE LIMA MEDEIROS December 24, 1957 - May 6, 2007 On May 6, 2007 Joao Medeiros passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Ward at the age of 49 years. Joao was born December 24, 1957 in Relva, island of Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. Joao came to Winnipeg on March 3, 1988, was a dedicated employee of the City of Winnipeg. Joao is now reunited with his parents, José and Natalia Medeiros. He will be sadly missed by his wife Maria da Conceicao; children, Bruna, Lisa and son-in-law Octavio Melo; brother and sister José and Ana da Graca in Winnipeg, Olga in the United States and brother Anibal in Azores; his in-laws, Manuel e Maria dos Santos; sisters-in-law, Otilia and Ana in Winnipeg and Carla in Azores; brothers-in-law, Scott and Santos in Winnipeg and Manuel in the United States. In Terceira Island he has sisters-in-law, Lucia, Manuela, Fernanda, Isabel, Anabela and brothers-in-law, Ildeberto, Jorge, Jose, Luis, Paulo; nieces and nephews, Maria, Marisa, Flavia, Luis, Telma, Marcio, Joao, Pedro, Andre, Goncalo; in Winnipeg, Joey, Susie, Steven and Natacha; in the United States, Travis and Stacy. His godmother Olga and uncle Manuel and aunt Fatima in Sao Miguel Island. Prayers will be held (tonight) Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin St. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. also at Immaculate Conception Parish, Rev. Jose E. Medeieros presiding. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery. Special thanks to doctors and staff at McDermot CancerCare Clinic, Health Sciences Centre and at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Ward, Dr. Ahmet Leylek and Dr. Andrew W. Maksymiuk.
