JOSE MANUEL MEDEIROS SOUSA After a courageous battle with cancer José passed away on May 6, 2007, at the age of 47, with his wife, sons and family by his side. José is survived by his wife Altina, sons, Daniel, Marco and Ricardo; mother Isaura Sousa; sisters, Mariana (Joao), Ursulina (Adriano), Ana (José), Helena (Manuel) of Açores; brothers, Alvaro (Teresa), Rui (Dolores), numerous nieces and nephews and close relatives. He was predeceased by his father José dos Santos Sousa. José was born in Ribeira Grande, Sao Miguel, Açores on May 3, 1960. He immigrated to Canada at the age of 15 to create a better life for himself. José was a loving husband, father and friend. He was always there when you needed a hand, support and companionship. Prayers will be held on Friday, May 11 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 181 Austin St. N. with Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated on Saturday, May 12 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. José Eduardo Medeiros presiding along with Fr. John McKenzie who will be co-celebrating both services. Entombment to follow at Assumption Queen of Heaven Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be José's nephews. The family would like to thank everyone for their support and compassion during José's illness, especially to the staff and care of Health Sciences Centre (4th floor GA). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in José's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society. We love you and though you are gone, you will be forever remembered in our hearts.
