ANNABEL ELAINE LINAKER March 7, 1951 Our beloved wife, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2007 at 9:05 p.m. at Riverview Heath Centre. Her husband Jim, the love of her life, survives her. Their three beautiful children, son Devin, partner Cayla and their children, Tyler and Haley, daughter Ainsley and son Garett; parents, Bert and Galdys Yake; sisters, Deb (Keith), Denise, Barb (Don), Jaylene (Don), Teresa (Reg), Roberta (Bob), Leona (David), and brother James; brother-in-law Laurie (Barb), Elmer (Gayle), Jack (Sharon) and sister-in-law Wilma. Along with numerous nieces and nephews. Annabel was born in Manitou, Manitoba; she lived the majority of her childhood in Snowflake and her teenage years in Clearwater. After graduation she moved to Winnipeg where she gained employment at Standard Aero Engine, gaining life long friends. In 1973 Anne married her high school sweetheart Jim. During their early years of marriage they resided in Manitou where she worked for the R.C.M.P. office, eventually returning to Winnipeg where they began their family. With her growing family's needs she elected to stay at home, volunteering her time in several areas of the community, touching many people's lives along her journey. Over the past year Anne took up numerous hobbies; painting, writing short stories, poetry and karaoke. Annabel loved to travel. She and Jim travelled to many destinations throughout Canada, USA, Europe, and Caribbean, just to name a few. Family was the most important part of her life especially celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and reunions. Annabel was very proud of her three children and thoroughly enjoyed her two grandchildren, and will miss them dearly. She looked forward every summer for the family gatherings at the lake, rain or shine. She was so looking forward to finishing the cabin, especially having kitchen cabinets so she could host even a better family reunion this summer. We wish to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the many friends, family and the staff at Riverview Health Centre for the care and compassion during Annabel's illness. A special thanks to the community palliative care nurses, Anne, Monique and Olga. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba in Anne's memory. Annabel's celebration of life memorial will take place on Thursday, May 10 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stephen's Anglican Church, 220 Helmsdale Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 11, at 2:00 p.m. in the Crystal City United Church. Interment will take place at Clearwater Cemetery, viewing from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Graham Funeral Home in Pilot Mound.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Annie was a wonderful friend and will be remembered especially be me as the person who came along and helped me learn to cope with being a new Mom. We met at Standard Aero, continued being especially close during our child rearing years and was there to be god-mother to my youngest. May she rest in peace and family take refuge in the knowledge that her journey has only begun with the Lord. - Posted by: Marguerite Toogood (Friend) on: May 09, 2007
