Date of Passing: May 09, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON HARVEY PRICE It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on May 9, 2007 at the age of 83 years. After a brief illness, he passed away peacefully with his family at his side. Left to cherish Gordon's memory are his loving wife Vera, children, Diane (Richard), Don (Connie), Dave (Kathy), seven grand-children and eight great-grandchildren. Gordon is also survived by one sister and one brother. Gordon was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on November 2, 1923 to Frank and Jessie Price and was raised on a farm in the Sintaluta, Saskatchewan area. In 1942 he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as an Aeroframe Mechanic in England until his discharge in 1945. In 1945 he married Vera Zorn and they then moved to Northern Manitoba where Gordon worked as a plumber-pipefitter in various mining communities. In 1951 they moved to Dauphin where he worked for Bumstead Plumbing and it was there that they raised their three children. In 1967 the family moved to Winnipeg where Gordon was employed by the Provincial Government as a Construction Supervisor until his retirement in 1987. During Gordon's time in Winnipeg he was a proud and active member of Ophir Mason Lodge 112 in Beausejour where he rose to the position of Worshipful Master. Gordon and Vera spent many of their retirement years dividing their time between the log cottage they built together at Grindstone Park, where he was known as the area handyman, and their winter home in Arizona, where he took up the hobby of lapidary (cutting and polishing gem stones). In 1999, due to Gordon's health, they relocated to Brandon, Manitoba where they resided next to their daughter and son-in-law. In September, 2006 they were very fortunate to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with their family and friends. The family would like to extend special thanks to the wonderful staff, especially Dr. Peter Vanrensburg, at the Brandon Health Centre for your care and compassion during this time. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Gordon's life will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, Brandon, Manitoba with a reception to follow. Private Interment will take place following the reception. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 3 824 18th Street, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 5B7 or to the Manitoba Lung Association, 8 940 Princess Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 0P6 or to the Salvation Army. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
