Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT D'HONT March 3, 1915 - May 9, 2007 On Wednesday, May 9, 2007, Robert passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Residence in Winnipeg. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Anne (nee King), his three children, Darlene (Bill) Watters and their children, Cheryl, Julie and Matthew; John of Wabowden, Manitoba and his children, Troy, Shaylee and Aubrey; Jim of Anmore, British Columbia. He also leaves behind two sisters, Suzanne Gobiel and Geneviève Francois, and sister-in-law Ghislaine D'Hont. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Stanislas D'Hont (1945) and Marie-Therese Reboulh de Veyrac (1962), brothers, Fernand (1986), Leon (1990), Andre (1991), Henri (1994), Georges (1993) and Gerard (2001), sisters, Simonne (1920), Yvonne (1981), Jacqueline (1989), Antoinette (1991) and Jeanne (1995). Robert was born on March 3, 1915 on a farm southeast of Bruxelles, Manitoba. He was the twelfth child of fourteen children. He married Anne King on September 8, 1951 in East Selkirk, Manitoba. He was a loving and devoted husband to Anne for 55 years. He served with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles during the Second World War where he saw front line action. On his return from the War he worked with Manitoba Hydro and then farmed for several years until moving to Winnipeg in 1960. He worked with the Manitoba Government from 1961 to 1980 where he retired as Maintenance Manager of the Legislative Building. His retirement years were spent enjoying his children and grandchildren. He was a very religious man and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and then St. Anthony's of Padua Church, West Kildonan. Prayer service will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2007, 7:30 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 14, 2007, 10:30 a.m. with viewing one half hour prior to at St. Anthony's of Padua Church, West Kildonan, 250 Burrin Avenue. Interment and reception to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main St. 338-7111
