EDERA FERLA (nee ACQUADRO) No words can express the sorrow we feel in announcing the passing of our beloved mother and nonna, Edera on Friday, May 11, 2007 at Deer Lodge Centre, at the age of 92 years, Remaining to forever cherish Edera's memory are her daughter Angelamaria (Dante) Silvestrin of Winnipeg; son John ( Marjorie) Ferla of Littleton, Colorado; sister Elda Frankow of Winnipeg; brother-in-law Gianmario (Giovanna) Ferla of Novara, Italy; grand-children, Adriana (Albert) Hiebert, Anna-Maria (Bill) Colman, Mark (Karen) Ferla, Kathleen (Mike) Skeffington and Kristin Ferla; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Deidra, Evana, Paul, Cole, Austin, Brennan, Stephan and Claire. Edera now joins her beloved husband Angelo; father Giovanni Theodoro; mother Caterina; sister Elma and brother Elio. Born on January 22, 1915 in Borgosessia, Vercelli, Italy, at the age of 6, Edera moved with her family to China, returning to Italy with her mother and sisters at age 12, where she spent the rest of her childhood and youth. During this time she met her husband Angelo Ferla. They married on September 15, 1935; and in 1956 with their children AngelaMaria and Giovanni, moved to Canada, settling in Winnipeg. Edera began working for the Hudson Bay Company in the tailor shop in 1957, retiring in 1979. An avid gardener, there was no plant that was too small or too weak for nonna. She could take any seedling and have it bloom into its full beauty, whether it was the flowering Azalea's in her sunroom or the immaculate lawn and flowerbeds at her beautiful home on Garfield Street. Nonna was all about family, continuously sharing her many talents with her grand-children and great-grandchildren. She took great pride in teaching us the simple pleasures of life and to make time for one another. With nonna there was always time, time for a card game, one more puppet show, time to learn to crochet, or the best time of all time for ice-cream. For nonna, it was all about having fun with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren the most beautiful flowers in her garden. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue, with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano, presiding. Interment will follow in the Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. Honorary pallbearers will be Deidra and Evana Hiebert, Cole, Austin and Brennan Skeffington, Stephan and Claire Ferla. Active pallbearers will be Mark Ferla, Andrew, Paul and Bill Colman, Albert Hiebert and Mike Skeffington. Our family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of 4West at Deer Lodge Centre for their outstanding care, dedication and support during this past month. Special thanks to Sila and Rossario Ingrilli, Marcella Gambos and Irma Tintori for their visits, phone calls and continuous support to nonna. As an expression of faith, memorial donations may be made in Edera's memory to Deer Lodge Centre, Respiratory Services, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3J 0L3. Edera's arrangements have been entrusted to Manitoba's largest Original Family Owned Funeral Service Provider: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 4665
