Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGUERITE FIDLER (nee LEPAGE) Marguerite Fidler (nee LePage) died May 10, 2007 in Toronto in her 100th year, after a lifetime of concern for families, individuals and community. Predeceased in 1995 by her husband, the Rev. Dr. Frank P. Fidler, with whom she shared 61 years of involvement in the United Church of Canada and related endeavours. The oldest living graduate of McGill University's School of Social Work (M.A. 1930), Marguerite worked in the Depression as a social worker in a settlement house in Winnipeg and then in downtown Montreal. While raising her four children in Ottawa and Toronto, and in her retirement years, she served in many volunteer positions in church and community organizations. Her strong faith was the foundation of her lifetime of service. She will also be remembered as a gracious hostess, an excellent homemaker and organizer, and a loyal and supportive friend. A host of friends are also grateful for her caring and enthusiastic life. She is survived by her four children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the Victoria College Chapel, 75 Queen's Park Crescent, Toronto. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Mission and Service Fund, the United Church of Canada, 3250 Bloor St. West, Etobicoke, ON M8X 2Y4 or The Vanier Institute of the Family, 94 Centrepointe Dr., Ottawa, ON K2G 6B1.
