EVELYN MAY ROUGEAU (nee MCLEOD) On Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at the age of 93 years, Evelyn peacefully passed away at Concordia Place where she had resided for the past four years. Evelyn was born March 13, 1914, in Selkirk Manitoba. She was the eldest child of Ernest and Beatrice McLeod and had three brothers and one sister. She was always proud of being part of the Selkirk community and considered it home. The McLeod family moved into Winnipeg when Evelyn was a young woman and settled in St. Vital. In 1937 Evelyn went to work in Bissett, Manitoba, where she met Roland who arrived in 1939. They were married in April 1941 and their two sons were born during their time there. The Bissett years always held the fondest memories for Evelyn. They made lifelong friendships and Evelyn talked about them often reciting the names of Bissett residents as well as those of their children always including all the relevant dates. In 1950 the family returned to Winnipeg and they resided in St. Vital where their boys grew up. When the boys got older Evelyn began working first at Picardy's Bakery on Portage Avenue and later at Eaton's. She proudly considered herself an Eatonion. Roland predeceased Evelyn in 1975. She is survived by her family Claude and Marlene Rougeau, their children, Michele and Ken Shipley, Paul and Sheila Rougeau (Sabrina and Jean-Claude) as well as Rennie and Muriel Rougeau, their children, Kyle Rougeau, Cory and Sharlene Rougeau (Shayla and Rylan). Claude and Marlene would like to express their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Helen Andrews who was Evelyn's companion for the last three years. They also acknowledge staff on the second floor at Concordia Place for all the kindness and care that they provided. You are all very special people. Cremation has taken place and a private service was held. Remembrances may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3, in Evelyn's memory. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
