NORMAN SYDNEY SPIGELMAN 1925 - 2007 It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Norman Spigelman on June 10, 2007 at Health Sciences Centre with his beloved wife at his side. Norman will be forever remembered by his wife Phyllis, children, Robyn (Stan), Victor and Adrienne (Andrew); as well as his treasured grandchildren, Jacob, Aliya, David (Spigelman), Danielle, Amy (Feuerberg) and Elyse (Ross). Also his in-laws, Sheila, Joel and Linda, Martin and Marilyn, mother-in-law Mollie Margolese, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by his brother Melvin and his parents, Jack and Gussie. Born October 20, 1925, Norm grew up in the north end of Winnipeg and attended Luxton and St. Johns High. In 1943, he joined the RCN and served his country until peace was declared in 1945. He returned to civilian life, joining his father in the wholesale meat business. In 1976, Norman went into insurance sales and carved a great career until retirement in 2006. He made friends wherever he travelled and loved life itself. After losing most of his sight, he still continued working and doing all he could with family and friends. Norm was an avid sportsman playing hockey, baseball and golf. He loved sports of all kind and when he could no longer participate he still listened to the t.v. and radio whenever a game was on. Norm's greatest love was his family, his dearest most precious friend, his wife Phyllis, whom he was with for 53 years. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 12 at Etz Chayim Synagogue. Pallbearers were Ian and Jerome Breslaw, Joel and Martin Margolese, Andrew Ross and Avery Spigelman. Honourary pallbearers were Bill Bubis, Danny Bubis, Stan Feuerberg, Allan Greenberg, Bernie Goldstein, Marc Kipnes, Max Labovitch, Sid Minuk, Howard Putter, Myer Steiman and Gary Whyte. Honour Guard and Last Post by Jewish war veterans, Moishe Dayan Post. The family expresses it's deep appreciation to Rabbi Henry Balser, Tracy Kastner-Graves and Dr. Jack Rusen. If so desired, donations may be made to Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre, JFM, or charity of choice.
