PERCY (JOHN) PROCTER Percy John Procter passed away on June 4, 2007. John (or Pug as he was affectionately known to his nieces and nephews) was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in October 1933, the youngest of five children. He grew up in the Wolseley area of Winnipeg and spent many summers at the family cottage in Gimli on Lake Winnipeg. He attended the University of Manitoba where he received his Masters Degree in Entomology. Marrying his wife Elaine in 1960, they honeymooned in British Columbia and decided that they would eventually like to live there. John's career as an Entomologist ( Bug Man to his kids) took the family through Regina, Edmonton, Victoria and then Kelowna, allowing them to meet many great friends along the way. In the late 1970s John and Elaine purchased a small orchard in Westbank on which they built a home. In 1988 John retired from Entomology to become a full-time orchardist. John and Elaine enjoyed many great travels in their years together. Elaine passed away in 1997, and John began his struggle with Alzheimers. John will be sadly missed by his daughter Colleen (her husband Dave); his son Peter (his wife Josalyn); his five grandchildren, Sean, Connor, Kelsey, Jaden and Peyton; as well as many other friends and family. There will be no service, but memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC, #300 - 828 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5C 1E2.
