JOSEPH STEPHEN HARBECK 1909 - 2007 In the early morning of June 30, 2007, at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home, Joseph Stephen Harbeck (Hrbek) died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 97. Born in Prague, the Czech Republic, December 18, 1909, Joseph lived an eventful and frequently difficult decision-filled life. He leaves to mourn his son Richard Harbeck (Joan), grandson Christopher, granddaughter Kathleen, all of Winnipeg, and his daughter Jitka Dolezalova (Vaclav), grandson Vaclav of Prague, as well as seven great-grandchildren. Following a period of searching the world for the ultimate green pasture in post Second World War Australia (1950s), and the United States (1960s and 1970s), Dad settled in Winnipeg, where he chose to retire and live out the last 33 years of his life mostly at the Villa Heidelberg seniors residence. Joseph, almost to the last days, was an enthusiastic advocate of healthy living practices, including Hatha Yoga and natural dietary practices. His family wishes to express their gratitude for the kindness and excellent care provided by the nursing staff of the St. Norbert Personal Care Home. A private family celebration of his life is planned.
