Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHORST FRIEDRICH Horst Friedrich passed away peacefully at the Gimli Community Health Centre (G.C.H.C.) on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the age of 74 years. He leaves to mourn his wife Marianne Falkenberg; children, Ralph (Judy) Falkenberg, Ines (Juan) Barbachano, Allan (Theresa) Falkenberg, and Janet (Gerry) Sul; as well as his beloved grandchildren, Bosco, Carina, Kurtis, Matthew, Lucas and Robin. Horst was predeceased by his parents Albert and Eugenia. Horst was born on May 22, 1933 in Lodz, Poland and after living in Germany he immigrated to Winnipeg in 1955. Arriving in Winnipeg he brought with him a love for soccer, celebrating good times with friends and the need to care for stray animals. It was at Camp Neustadt where he met Marianne who became the love of his life. They both enjoyed their many years living in nearby Heideland where they lived for the company of their German Club friends and others they met along the way. Horst was always willing to help his friends with plumbing and odd jobs, expecting nothing in return. His favourite daily activity was walking through the camp and down to the lake, chatting with his many friends along the way. He will be sadly missed by those who he touched along the way, including his many friends from soccer, plumber's union, German Club, residents of Heideland and Camp Neustadt. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gimli Animal Shelter Inc., Box 1344, Gimli, MB, R0C 1B0. A thank you to the G.C.H.C. nursing staff and Dr. S. V. Patel who always encouraged Horst to never give up hope. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gimli Lutheran Church, 50 3rd Avenue, Gimli, MB. Pastor J. Snider will be officiating and interment will take place at the Arnes cemetery after the service. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
