JOHANNA (JENNY) MAESSEN It is with a sad heart we announce the passing of Johanna (Jenny) Jacoba Rachel Maessen on July 14, 2007 at the Grace General Hospital after battling pneumonia. She was predeceased by her husband Denis in 1993. She leaves to mourn, her son Leo (Barbara), granddaughter Sharna (Will), great-grandchildren, Bradley, Austin and Blaise. She will also be sadly missed by the many friends she made through her lifetime. Until 2003, Jenny was active in the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion 43 Norwood St. Boniface and before retiring was employed by Naylor Communications. Born Countess Johanna Jacoba Rachel Van-Os in Antwerp, Belgium. Jenny realized her talents early in life, and along with her husband Denis, whom she met in the opera house, became a recorded opera singer. Jenny was also an accomplished ballerina. After many years in Canada, Jenny found that she missed entertaining so she and Denis started a family band called Jenny and the Boys, which was later known as Opus 1. Jenny will be sadly missed and mourned by not only her family, but also by the many people and friends who's lives she touched. Her smile was an absolute pleasure. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 20, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley Street. Have a good rest Mom. Love.
