Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNELSON ALBERT STARR September 18, 1935 - July 30, 2007 Suddenly on Monday, July 30, 2007 at his residence in Scanterbury, Nelson Starr, aged 71 years. Nelson was predeceased by his parents Henry and Idell Starr, eight siblings, one niece and one nephew. He is survived by his sister Eunice Galvin, brother Henry James and eleven nieces and nephews. Nelson was known as Scanterbury's Goodwill Ambassador, his passion was waving to all who passed by on highway 59, as was featured in various stories, whether it be in the Winnipeg Free Press, CTV News as well as featured on CBC's On The Road Again along with his brother James. His smiling face and friendly waving hand will be greatly missed by his family, friends and anyone who stopped by to stand and wave along with him. A wake will be held on Thursday, August 2 starting at 4:00 p.m. at the Scanterbury Hall. Funeral Services will take place Friday at 1:00 p.m. also in the hall. Pallbearers are Mark Johnston, Mervin Galvin, Russell Sinclair, Wallace Sinclair, Justin Brey and Kyle Sinclair. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Galvin, James Starr, Cory Pangman, Rodney Bone, Michael Martin and Larry Burns. A special thank you to his good friend Edith Langlois, the Chief, council and band members of the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
