WILLIAM (BILL) FELDMAN March 27, 1946 - August 4, 2007 On Saturday, August 4, 2007, Bill Feldman passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill obtained a Master's Degree in social work and began his career as a social worker through which he did family and couples' counseling. It didn't surprise anyone that social work was his first career choice. Bill was a warm, compassionate and loving man ideally suited to helping people. He eventually joined his father-in-law, Lou, in the tire industry where he worked for 35 years. Bill had a special management style; he earned the respect of his employees by trusting them and giving them the freedom to reach their potential and they reciprocated with long-term loyalty. He was married to his wife Susan (nee Leibl) for 38 years and credited her with creating so many wonderful experiences in his life. Among those were their many travels together or as a family, often to sunny spots in Europe, Asia, South America and all over North America. Although he travelled the world, Bill loved Winnipeg because that is where his friends lived. His free time was spent walking his dog, working out at the Squash Club, driving his immaculate car and relaxing at his cabin in Gimli. Bill was a wonderful father and friend. His caring nature, strength of character and dignity touched many people, especially in the weeks following his diagnosis. Bill will be sadly missed by his wife Susan, children Jennifer and Jonathan, sister Janet, niece Raquel and nephew Maury, brother-in-law Ashley, sister-in-law Nona, nieces Sara, Marli, Lexi and nephew Benji and brother-in-law Raymond, sister-in-law Ingrid, and nephew Phillip. Bill will also be lovingly remembered by his extended family, friends, and colleagues in Winnipeg and across North America for his generosity, integrity and sense of humour. His family would like to particularly thank Dr. Jeremy Lipschitz and all of Bill's doctors and caregivers during the last few weeks. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, corner of Academy Road and Wellington Crescent. Burial to follow at Rosh Pina Memorial Park, 2795 Main Street. The Meal of Consolation will take place immediately after the funeral. Shiva will be held Tuesday, August 7, Wednesday, August 8, and Thursday, August 9 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Prayers will begin at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory can be made to: Bill Feldman Fund for Pancreatic Cancer Research and Education, in care of Health Sciences Centre Foundation MS1-820 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3A 1R9 (1-800-679-8493).
