BERNARD A. NEFF March 7, 1917 - August 12, 2007 It is with sadness we announce the passing of Bernie Neff on August 12 at the Deer Lodge Centre Personal Care Home. Besides his loving wife Anne, he leaves to mourn his daughter Beverley Johnston and her husband Jim and his three grandsons Brett, Bradford, and Bennett. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Bernie was born in Brownlee, SK in 1917 and lived in that area until the outbreak of the Second World War, at which time he joined the Royal Canadian Artillery, going overseas with the 12th Field Regiment. He landed in France in the early hours of D day. He returned to Canada after the war and joined the Winnipeg Police Service, retiring in June of 1972. He then worked for the Attorney General's Department retiring from there in 1982. Bernie was a member of the Winnipeg Police Veterans Association, the Manitoba Government Retired Employees Association, the Army Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada, the Lord Selkirk Lodge #137 A.F. and A.M., the Bethany Preceptory, Prince of Wales Chapter and of Khartum Temple where he was a member of the Oriental Band. Bernie was also an active volunteer driver for the Cancer Society. At Bernie's request cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 22 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 1101-191 Lombard Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 0X1 or to a charity of choice.
