PAUL EMILE LONGTIN November 30, 1927 - August 19, 2007 It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather at the Riverview Health Centre. He was born in McCreary, MB. He left home at 16 and went to Red Water, AB where he worked in the oil fields. At 18, he joined the Canadian Navy and after two years he decided the military was not for him. In 1949 he got a job working for the C.N.R. at Rivers, MB. He then transferred to Transcona where he joined the running trades. He worked as a locomotive fireman and in 1958 he was promoted to locomotive engineer. He retired in June 1987. In retirement, he and Terry spent a lot of their summers at their cottage at Ena Lake, ON. Their winters were spent visiting different warm places in Cuba, Mexico, and the United States. Paul was a devoted family man. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He supported their endeavors and took great pride in all their accomplishments. He was a farm boy at heart and loved to tell stories of growing up on the farm where he had a pony, a trapline, and went hunting with his trusty 22. He is survived by Terry (Guimond), his wife of 54 years; his sons, Paul (Carole Kurdydyk), Alan (Judy Doctoroff), and his daughter Pat (Brent Fedirchuk); six grandchildren, the delight of his life: Shannon Lavell, Robert and Kristen Longtin, Sidney, Grace, and Bryce Fedirchuk, and Alyssa Lavell, a special little girl who made him great . He is also survived by two sisters, Elda Plessis and Eveline Longtin, his brother Joe, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Ephrem and Martine, his brother Ben, and his sister Rita Sidley. Many thanks to the health care staff at 3 East, Riverview Health Centre for their caring and compassion. A Celebration of Life will be on Thursday, August 23, 11:00 a.m. at Morrow Gospel Church, 755 St. Anne's Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Riverview Health Centre. Transcona Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
