Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNST (ERNIE) CHRISTIAN MUEHLEISEN 1923 - 2007 After a short illness, our beloved Papa and Opa, Ernst (Ernie) Christian Muehleisen, passed away on August 16, 2007. Ernst was born on February 21, 1923, in Eislingen, Germany, to Christian and Emma Muehleisen. He was predeceased by our mother, Erika, in 2004, and, during the Second World War, by his older brother Georg. Ernst and Erika met in Buenos Aires Argentina in 1953, were married there in 1954 and moved to Germany in 1955. They immigrated to Winnipeg in January 1960. Their children were born on three continents: Elsa in South America, Ernie in Europe and Eric in North America. Ernst was a paper maker by trade but worked as a letter carrier in Germany, re-trained as a machinist in Canada and retired from the CN in 1985. Our parents loved their retirement. They enjoyed daily walks in Birds Hill Park, visiting Ernie and Wilma and the boys in Halifax, and babysitting Britta. Papa had many years to devote to his favourite pastime, reading. He had a passion for history, politics and geography, and amassed a formidable library on twentieth century geopolitics. In addition to his three children, Ernst will be sadly missed by his daughter-in-law, Wilma, and seven grandchildren: Andrew, Carl and Bryce Desender; Christian, Stephen and Kevin Muehleisen; Britta Muehleisen. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 7, 2007, in the North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch St. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Humane Society.
