BARBARA JOAN IWANCHUK It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Joan Iwanchuk on Wednesday, October 10 2007. Barbara was born on July 21 1932 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was one four children born to Thomas and Emma Panting. She graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and while in school was very active in downhill skiing and speed skating. She married James Iwanchuk in 1953. Together they raised four boys in their home in Charleswood. Many lifelong memories and friendships were made there. While busy raising her family in Charleswood she also made time to play women's baseball, but her real passion was curling at the Charleswood Curling Club. She spent many fun filled years curling at Charleswood Curling Club. Here she took an active role as president of the Ladies League as well as many other administrative areas of the club. She had wonderful memories and often talked about the costumes and fellowship during bonspiels and other events. Later in life she went back to school for accounting training and was then employed as head bookkeeper for a national auto parts warehouse - Jos. St. Mars until her retirement. Her many hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting and most recently painting. She loved puzzles and crosswords of any kind. She was also a constant supporter and member of the Army, Navy Air Force Veterans in Canada. She loved her work with the ladies auxiliary and enjoyed the many long lasting friendships she made there. Her sister Margaret Green and sister in-law Nancy Panting along with many nieces and nephews survive her. She is also survived by her children Daniel (Judy) Michael and Dana Iwanchuk, Stanley (Stacey) Victoria, Steven and Phoenix Iwanchuk, Timothy (Lana) Kyle and Brody Iwanchuk, and daughter in law Tracy and her children Jenna and Ross Iwanchuk. She loved her grandchildren deeply and was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Emma Panting, her brothers William (and sister in law Joan) and Stuart Panting and her son Randy Iwanchuk. As per Mom's wishes her body has been donated to the U of M for further education. A celebration of her life is planned for Monday October 15 2 pm at the Army, Navy Air Force Club Unit 283 - 3584 Portage Ave. Winnipeg Manitoba. Tea and fellowship will be provided afterwards. In lieu of flowers donations to the club would be greatly appreciated.
