STANISLAW LUDWIK SLEDZ Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Friend October 6, 1932 - October 27, 2007 Revised Service Information Stanislaw Ludwik Sledz passed away suddenly and peacefully at Selkirk General Hospital on October 27, 2007 at the age of 75 with family at his side. He leaves behind his wife Maria Sledz, his sister Marysia, his sons Franek (Krystyna), Boguslaw (Ela) of Poland, late son Edward (Helena), Wieslaw (Alicja), and Stanislaw (Deanne) of Winnipeg, Canada, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. Stanislaw was born in Rakoniewice, Poland. During the Second World War as a young boy he and his family were condemned to years of forced labour in a camp in Czechoslovakia. The end of the war allowed for his families return to Poland. Stanislaw and Maria as husband and wife were blessed with five boys, through hard work in post war Poland they established strong roots and strived to provide the best for their family as well as instilled strong values and Catholic upbringing. Stanislaw and Maria traveled to Winnipeg, Canada in 1975, where they worked and met many of their friends. Once here, they learned what freedom was and were impressed by the countries endless opportunities. During the voyage back home the decision was made to return as permanent residents. The 1976 winter holiday to France was a stepping-stone towards realizing his dream. The family arrived to Canada in 1977 and with great pride they accepted their Canadian Citizenship in April 5, 1984. Stanislaw worked as a butcher and his hobbies included gardening, hunting and fishing with his sons, grandchildren, family and friends. We would like to extend a special thank-you to family and friends for all the love and support during this difficult time, as well as the staff at Selkirk General Hospital. Prayers will be held on Friday, November 2 at 6:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. Fr. Ceas Chmiel officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 3 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Cropo Funeral Chapel 586-8044
